Quest 2 is the best bang for your buck if you have the PC for PCVR and also allows standalone (unconnected from pc) play as well. Stealing from an another sub: go to steam library, Half Life Alyx properties and type -vr into launch options. I had a similar problem with alien isolation, And I either had to press alt+enter or go to desktop mode (with virtual desktop) click on the game on the task bar and go back to vr mode.
