Hands down best way to level up (only for later levels) is to get an industrial grinder and a Mammoth. Fill that Mammoth with wood, grind it all into thatch. Throw the thatch on the ground. Rinse, repeat, level. Takes some time to get there, but once you do it's the lowest effort leveling method I have found. #7.
